We believe that parents have the best opportunity to disciple and influence their kids.

We also know that this can be a daunting task. This is where we feel like we can help. Below are are list of books chosen specifically to set you up to have some great conversations with your kids. Don't know where to start? We recommend buying a book, taking your son or daughter out to dinner, and asking them if they would read the book with you. This could be a great learning experience for the both of you! Set up a time each week that you will meet together to discuss the book, then once you are done, ask them if there is a book they might want to read together next!

We really believe Play the Man is perfect for Dads and Sons. The book starts out by outlining 7 attributes of a man of God. Batterson writes with humor, adding a lot of stories to keep us guys interested. He challenges, inspires, and motivates boys to become men.

The second half of the book is a challenge- for dads and sons to go through a "Rite of Passage" together. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

A Guy's Guide to God, Girls, and the Phone in your Pocket bounces around from topic to topic with 101 suggestions for teenage guys. It will keep your son engaged, while challenging him to think through his actions and how the bible relates to his every day life.

This is a quick and easy one to pick up, and will set up conversation well!

aims to help girls understand that they have a role in changing the culture and pressure of middle school.

Wild at Heart aims to discover the "Secret of a Man's Soul." Now, I know what you are thinking... my high school son doesn't want to talk about his emotions... never mind "discover his soul." Luckily for you, discovering the soul involves a lot of conversation about adventure, women, and battles. All of those things are interesting to high school guys!

Reading this book was a highlight for me in my life. We highly recommend it!

Books for moms and high school girls

Captivating is very similar to Wild at Heart, except that it's written for girls! This one is sure to get conversation started with your daughter. It is both deep, and encouraging. Discuss romance, adventure, and beauty!

The message of Captivating is this: Your heart matters more than anything else in all creation. Check it out!

Having the talk with your kids can be a challenge. It is intimidating, and often parents choose to pass it off to schools. We want to challenge parents with the thought that the most influential person in the life of a student is their parent. That being said, we believe that talking to your kids about sex is YOUR responsibility.

We want to best equip you for that! The Talks sets you up perfectly with every thing you need to feel empowered to have those conversations with your kids!
